A “Butterfly Twist” is a Butterfly Kick variation which is an off-axis side aerial with a 360 body varial rotation.
Which movement communities utilize this skill?
The move stems from martial arts, specifically kung-fu/wushu. Nowadays it has branched into other communities such as contemporary dance, tricking, and breakdancing.
What inspired you to bring the B Twist workshop to the Superhero Fitness community?
I think the B-twist (Butterfly twist) is such an aesthetically pleasing move which is fairly achievable for many people to attempt and land. This movement is so powerful and many people will in hopes open new avenues in their new and/or current movement of art.
What do you hope participants take away from your workshop?
I hope people learn that the bridge from butterfly kick to butterfly kick isn’t straight forward. There are so many different routes to go to b-twist. Learning other b-kick variations and other twisting movements can help build a strong foundation to achieve the b-twist.
Are there any prerequisites that will make this skill easier to learn?
A butterfly kick and a 360 jump.

For someone nervous about trying a B Twist for the first time, what advice would you give?
Find something within the process that you think is fun. Enjoy the pre req moves, the twist, flinging yourself onto the mat. I believe you go farther while enjoying the journey, rather than focusing on the end goal.
