What is your movement background?
“My dearest love is Partner Acrobatics. I competed in the sport from 2004 to 2017, always as the mid or base in a trio of women. During that time, we won a U.S. National Title, represented the United States internationally as part of the National Team, and placed 10th at the World Games in Portugal. Individually, I was also a U.S. National competitor in Trampoline and Tumbling. Honestly, I can’t remember a time I wasn’t in the gym; it has always felt like my safe space. Outside of gymnastics, I love downhill skiing, even if I’m not that great at it! It’s all about the joy of movement.”

How did you get into teaching and for how many years?
“I think I’ve always been drawn to coaching. I remember teaching my little brother, who’s five years younger than me, how to ride a bike and how to flip into the pool. Officially, I started coaching at 16 at my home gym. That might be more years than I care to admit, but I’ve never lost my passion for it. If anything, the longer I’ve been coaching, the more I love it. Helping people discover their strength, confidence, and sense of community through movement has kept me inspired year after year.”
What sets your teaching style apart from other coaches?
“When I coach adults, I’ve been called “the drill coach.” I’ve earned a reputation, one I’m proud of, for being able to break down complex skills into clear, achievable steps. I believe that approach can turn something as intimidating as a back handspring into a series of simple movements that nearly anyone can learn with the right prep work!
When I coach children ages three to five, I focus on blending imaginative play with principles of child development. My goal isn’t just to create little athletes; it’s to help kids stay on track with developmental milestones and build the confidence and coordination that prepare them for school and life. Whether I’m coaching adults or kids, my approach always centers on progress, joy, and connection.”
What classes do you teach at Superhero Fitness?
“On the partner acrobatics side, I coach Acro Launch and Human Towers, both of which are closely connected to what I grew up doing in competitive acrobatics. I also lead the entire Adult Tumbling program, which I love because it helps people rediscover their strength and confidence through movement. And then I jump all the way to the littlest group, our Mighty Movers ages three to five. The difference in size and energy keeps things interesting, and both groups bring me so much joy in their own ways.”
What is your favorite part about coaching?
“It’s the “aha!” moments. Whether it’s an adult who finds the courage to try a back handspring or a four-year-old who nails a forward roll and celebrates like they’ve just won the Olympics, it never gets old. Watching that spark of confidence appear when something that once seemed impossible suddenly clicks is the best part of the job. It’s pure magic, and I feel lucky to be part of a community where those moments happen every day.”
